Say you’re on vacation in France and you want to access a website from the UK. Much to your surprise, you find that you can’t access said site. The site owner decided to allow UK visitors only, and since you’re in France, you’re greeted with a message that says “site content not available in your region.” Such an inconvenience can be avoided by using ExpatShield. You see, this application uses VPN technology to change your real IP with one from the UK. By doing so it allows you to access websites that are blocked to users from outside the UK.

According to the developer, ExpatShield provides support for Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Download an executable, run it, and in no time at all you will have ExpatShield up and running on your PC.

Here’s what happens when you launch ExpatShield. Your default web browser will open. In your browser window you will briefly see an ExpatShield prompt that displays the application’s state: authenticating -> pulling options -> assigning IP address -> connected. You will be redirected to the anchorfree.us website.

While ExpatShield is running, you will see an icon in the system tray. If the icon is green, it means you’re connected and protected. If it is red, it means you’re disconnected. Click the icon and you will be presented with a menu that features the following options: connect, disconnect, properties, show on restart, language, about, exit.

Just because you’re not physically in the UK does not mean you can’t access websites from the UK. If the site owner decided to block access to visitors from outside the UK, use ExpatShield to bypass this nuisance. ExpatShield changes your real IP with an IP from the UK. It thus allows you to access blocked sites and it also protects your identity and privacy.

ExpatShield switches your real IP with one from the UK. By doing so it allows you to access sites that are blocked to visitors from outside the UK.

Pros

You’ll have ExpatShield up and running in no time at all. There’s nothing difficult about using ExpatShield; it does what it’s supposed to do without needing user input. ExpatShield protects your identity and privacy by switching your real IP with one from the UK.

Cons

None that I could think of.
